How often do I need to replace batteries?
The power consumption of a battery:
- with Kontakt.io beacons as an example, the CR 2477 T Lithium battery has a shelf-life (unused) of approximately 5 years and an in-service live with a normal power setting (3) of 2 years. Â
Factors that effect battery life:
- the type of battery used by the specific beacon
- Status of Power Sleep State (see below)
- the beacon manufacturer
- the power setting of the beacon,
- higher power settings yields a greater broadcast area, but uses more power, reducing the life of the battery.
- the temperature of the environment (colder conditions draws more power)

You can also, using the Kontakt.io webpanel, change all or selected beacons to work in a Power Sleep state . This does not turn-off the beacon but rather, for time ranges and dates
